Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital Recognized by U.S. News & World Report for Excellence in Four Clinical Areas

CHICAGO, IL (August 6, 2025) – Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, has been recognized as High Performing in the 2025–2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals ratings. This is the highest distinction awarded for clinical performance in specific procedures and conditions.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals nationwide across 22 procedures and conditions. Saint Mary of Nazareth earned High Performing ratings in four key areas: heart failure, kidney failure, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

“For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients,” said Ben Harder, Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis at U.S. News & World Report. “Hospitals designated as ‘High Performing’ demonstrate a consistent ability to provide excellent care for specific medical procedures and conditions, showcasing their specialized expertise and commitment to patient outcomes.”

Performance ratings were based on objective quality measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and nursing care, drawing from more than 800 million patient records. The hospital’s coordinated, evidence-based approach has resulted in consistently strong outcomes for patients with chronic and complex conditions.

“We are honored to be recognized in areas that matter deeply to our patients and community,” said Ellis Hawkins, CEO of Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital. “These distinctions reflect the dedication of our clinical teams and Prime Healthcare’s ongoing investments in upgraded infrastructure, advanced technology, and expanded services. We remain committed to delivering excellent, compassionate care to Ukrainian Village, Wicker Park, and beyond.”

In addition to U.S. News recognition, Saint Mary of Nazareth received “A” grades from both the Lown Institute and The Leapfrog Group in 2025. The Lown Institute recognized the hospital for social responsibility, clinical outcomes, and health equity. Leapfrog awarded top marks for patient safety based on more than 30 nationally reported measures. These distinctions highlight the hospital’s commitment to safe, equitable, and high-quality care.

These recognitions reaffirm Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital’s mission to provide safe, high-quality, and equitable care to the communities it serves.
