Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital named to the Lown Hospitals Index Honor Roll and ranked No. 1 in Illinois for Social Responsibility
Chicago, Ill. (June 29, 2026) Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare has been named to the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index Honor Roll, recognizing it among the nation’s most socially responsible hospitals. Only 160 out of more than 3,600 U.S. hospitals achieved this distinction by earning top grades across measures of health equity, value, and patient outcomes.
Ranked No. 1 in Illinois and among the top 1% of hospitals nationally for Social Responsibility, Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital demonstrated outstanding performance across health equity, value, and patient outcomes. The hospital also ranked Top 5 in Illinois for Health Equity, Patient Safety, and Inclusivity, earned an overall “A” grade in Social Responsibility, and received “A” grades in Health Equity, Value of Care, Patient Outcomes, Clinical Outcomes, Patient Safety, Community Benefit, Inclusivity, Pay Equity, Cost Efficiency, and Racial Inclusivity, reflecting its commitment to delivering exceptional patient care while advancing health equity and strengthening the communities it serves.
The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only national ranking that evaluates hospitals on measures of social responsibility, including health equity, value of care, and patient outcomes. The Index examines how equitably care is delivered, how well hospitals invest in their communities, and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures, in addition to traditional measures such as clinical outcomes and patient safety. More than 50 metrics contribute to a hospital’s overall score.
